Calling all boerewors makers

PORT ALFRED – Entries have opened for the annual EC Today/Kowie Boerewors Championships, to coincide with the Kowie Carnival, to be held this year on Saturday, 29 September.

The championship, in its third year, is held to establish who makes the best boerewors in the Albany district. There are two categories to enter: the Retail Category, for butchers from privately owned butcheries and retail stores, and the Independent Category – for those who still know the art of making boerewors. There is also an Overall Winner Category.

Only the winner of the Retail Category is allowed to market and sell their winning product under the banner of EC Today/Kowie Boerewors Champion. All boererwors makers and butchers in the district, from Alexandria to Bedford and Birha, can enter the championships. Organisers have secured excellent prizes for the winners of the respective categories.

Arts, crafts and food stalls can now also book their space, but NO boerewors rolls will be allowed to be sold on the day. The Carnival and Boerewors Championships are held in aid of charities around the Kowie. For more information or to book your stall, contact EC Today on (046) 624 1207 or email engelan@ectoday.co.za
